Dog Days of Summer

This is our wonderful, sweet dog, Lady. She just turned four. We got her from Dalmatian Rescue last October after our 13-year-old male Dalmatian passed away. Dillinger was an entirely different animal. He was not friendly with strangers or other animals but loved our family. Lady is excited to meet new people & has even made friends with neighborhood dogs.
Our Tale of Texas
Once upon a time, there was a nice little family in California. This little family was part of two bigger families. The little family was myself, my husband (Brad), and our two daughters (Allison & Kimberly). After a few family disappointments, we realized our lives are worth enjoying as much as we can. When you really think about it, life is short & you can never go back in time. (Although I often wish we could.) My husband has always traveled the country for his job. He has a fondness for water sports & has always wanted to be close to the lake. In Southern California, there's not many lakes to play at. And, there's way too many boat owners in relation to the amount of water available. I hated the 4-5 hour drive to the Colorado River for a short weekend of boating. Every month, as Brad flew in & out of DFW, he could not count the amount of lakes he saw. I joined him on one trip & explored the area. (Nov. 2004) It was nice & comparable to the area we lived in. Very close to shopping & the airport & good schools. We still couldn't decide if moving away from our families was right for us. Brad had a tough day at work & sent me an email - he was ready to reduce our stress, reduce our debt & move out of California. His largest customer was in Dallas & his company approved of our decision to move. In Feb. 2005, while the kids were off school we brought them to Texas. We found a wonderful home on an acre of land for less than half the money it would cost in California. We moved here in June 2005 & have been back to visit California twice. Each time we return to Texas, we feel we made the right decision. I know our lives in California were great, we were happy there. But, I do believe our lives here are better. It's not only about the nicer home & yard. It's about our quality of life. And that was our goal, make the most of the life we have. We are truly blessed.

I have no idea what I'm doing.
I just want to reply or post comments to someone's blogspot. I love hearing the stories & seeing the photos. I wondered if I should do this myself. Will it be a waste of my time? Will it become the replacement for the journal I haven't written in for almost a year? Only time will tell...
